Principal, Burrell Foley Fischer

John Burrell AADip MA RIBA FRSA MSAI, is an award-winning architect, urban designer and architectural illustrator (studioburrell), and a founding partner of Burrell Foley Fischer (BFF) 

He has been a Consultant Director at Urban Initiatives responsible for housing +neighbourhoods) and is a member of the Board of Stewards of International Making Cities Liveable (IMCL) in the USA, and a trustee of the Spitalfields Trust.

John has advised the New Communities Group of the Town and Country Planning Association, the Government Working Group on Urban Design/Planning and New Settlements, the Civic Trust, the CBA, the Department of the Environment and RIBA Planning Advisory Group,  Arts Council of England , Civic Trust, NHS Estates, Heritage England, the CBA and London Design Review (DRP) panels. and has lectured internationally on urban design, adaptive conservation, and neighbourhood development.

He is frequently commissioned to contribute his alternative design proposals and illustrations to assist national campaigns, community interest groups and heritage organisations such as SAVE and acts as an expert design witness, at Public Inquiries (e.g. Smithfield Market).

John is currently working on the design of new self-sustaining low carbon neighbourhood settlements on brown-field town sites in the UK, and the remediation of underperforming ‘grey-land’ owned by local authorities: to provide more attractive, green, liveable neighbourhoods.
