Jennifer A. Yashar is a partner in the Real Estate Department, resident in Fried Frank’s New York office. She joined the Firm in 2005. Ms. Yashar’s practice covers a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including commercial leasing for both landlords and tenants, acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures. She routinely counsels owners, developers, financial institutions, and corporations.
Ms. Yashar regularly advises prominent landlords in large commercial leasing transactions such as Brookfield Properties in its leasing activities at Brookfield Place and its new development at Manhattan West in New York City, including leases to Skadden and the National Hockey League at One Manhattan West. She also represented Brookfield in leasing to Bank of America all of the office space at 1100 Avenue of the Americas and additional office space at 1114 Avenue of the Americas for Bank of America’s expansion to buildings neighbouring its headquarters at One Bryant Park and Bank of America’s lease extension at Brookfield Place.
She also advises tenants in many major office headquarters leases including McKinsey & Company in its 186,000-square-foot lease at 3 World Trade Center in New York City for its headquarters relocation, Shiseido Americas in its 220,000-square-foot lease at 390 Madison Avenue in New York City, JP Morgan Chase in its leasing of the remaining 435,000 square feet at 390 Madison Avenue, and Milbank’s relocation to 250,000 square feet at 55 Hudson Yards in New York City. Ms. Yashar also advised 21st Century Fox and News Corp. in their lease renewals and extensions totalling more than 1.2 million square feet at 1211 Avenue of the Americas in New York City.
Ms. Yashar was recently recognised in Real Estate Forum’s 2018 “Women to Watch” List as part of its “Women of Influence” feature, which honours the achievements of women in commercial real estate, and the industry’s efforts toward diversification and inclusion.
She was also recognised in Real Estate Forum’s “Fifty Under 40,” an honour that recognises the 50 best-in-class young commercial real estate professionals, and in Real Estate Weekly’s 2018 list of Rising Stars in Real Estate. She is a member of The American Lawyer’s Young Lawyer Editorial Board, a group of professionals bringing a voice to the legal industry’s emerging leaders. Since its establishment in February 2018, the Board has tackled complicated issues in the legal industry, including sexual harassment in law firms, the evolving qualifications of a proper legal education, and the important correlation between office space and productivity.
Ms. Yashar is a founding member of Fried Frank’s Women in Real Estate group. She plays a significant role in mentoring female attorneys and is the first woman to begin her career in the Real Estate Department at Fried Frank and be elected to partnership.
In addition, Ms. Yashar contributes to her local community through pro bono services and religious affiliations.
