Clare Andrews

Clare Andrews joined Royal London as a Senior Retail Asset Manager in June 2017.  She was previously at Aviva Investors for 12 years where she joined as the Assistant Fund Manager on The Mall Fund from Capital & Regional and later moved teams to become a cross-sector Asset Manager and then a Senior Retail Asset Manager. Prior to this Clare worked  for around 10 years at Weatherall Green & Smith as a commercial valuer and as a researcher at Hillier Parker.  Clare started her surveying career at Clive Lewis and Partners in 1990.

Clare works in the retail team at Royal London and is a very pro-active asset manager, seeking out value by redeveloping and reconfiguring buildings and introducing new uses. The current retail environment means there is also an emphasis on trying to retain tenants, understanding their difficulties and dealing with the various CVAs.  She is also involved in transactional work, buying and selling shopping centres, retail parks and high street shops.

Over the last 30 years, she has helped train many graduates, some of which have reached very senior levels in the industry but for various reasons she has not quite reached the same dizzying heights herself.  Regardless, Clare is extremely proud of where she is today, especially considering her background. She is from a relatively poor working class background, attended a large comprehensive school in North West London where only a few pupils made it to University, and then went on to study Geography at Reading University.  It was there that a chance friendship later led her into Surveying.
