Technological advances are rapidly changing the conventional ways that we live, work and consume. In real estate, this means that ‘buzz’ words such as smart buildings have become commonplace and referred to not only how properties are built, but how new technologies can impact the way we work and produce.
However, statistics highlight that men in real estate account for 84% of the professional workforce; the tech industry is not much different. This raises many questions, such as: If the large majority of the decision makers in both property and technology are male, how will this affect flexible working business models, environmental sustainability and overall corporate organization that meet the needs of a more diverse, perhaps gender equal, tenant base? Or will this lead to further polarisation of gender roles across industries such as real estate?
