Chief Executive, The Crown Estate

Alison Nimmo is Chief Executive of The Crown Estate which has a capital value of over £11.5 billion. The Estate’s assets range from prime real estate in London’s West End, to around 50% of the UK’s foreshore and almost the entire seabed around the UK, to farmland and forestry.  In the last financial year it returned in excess of £285 million revenue profit to the Treasury for the benefit of the nation.

Alison was previously Director of Design and Regeneration at the Olympic Delivery Authority, for five years.  She led on the overall design, planning and early delivery of most of the venues and the parklands for London’s Olympic Park.  She was also the lead on sustainability and legacy for the multi-award winning Olympic Park.

Her previous roles have included: a central role in the London 2012 bid team and interim Director who led the establishment of the Olympic Delivery Authority; Chief Executive of Sheffield One, a seminal city centre regeneration programme for Sheffield; and Project Director of Manchester Millennium Ltd, the taskforce responsible for spearheading the regeneration of Manchester city centre following the terrorist bombing in 1996.

Alison is a chartered surveyor and town planner by training and was awarded a CBE for services to urban regeneration in 2004.  She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers and has an Honorary Degree from Sheffield Hallam University.  Alison is a non-executive director of the Berkeley Group.
